Twitter Analysis
Twitter is a huge part of the social
networking field today and is very successful in pioneering a new way for
people to interact with each other. With the positive aspects of Twitter, there
are also negative aspects.
Twitter is a great platform for
advertising. It can make a lot of money off of it and if it’s a good
advertisement, it enhances the quality of Twitter. They have to be careful
though because if your newsfeed on Twitter is too bogged down with advertisements,
it decreases the quality of Twitter making it obsolete and it will be possible
for another site to take its place. This also happened to Digg where the
quality of the website went down from over advertising and the same thing can
happen to Twitter without the proper precautions.
Twitter is an amazing source for
social networking because users can interact with their friends. I believe that
if twitter gains more users, it could take over Facebook for the spot of number
one social networking site. Twitter could be the next Facebook if it gains a
more sizable user base. That’s the only downside with the social aspect is that
not everyone is on Twitter but everyone’s on Facebook.
Entertainment is Twitter’s best
feature. With Twitter, you’re able to follow what your favorite celebrities are
doing or thinking like never before. Many people use Twitter for this function
only. They follow musicians to see when their next tour dates are or actors for
info on their next movies. It can also
be harmful to see everything a celebrity thinks because it may bring down their
public image. Rapper Gucci Mane recently had to delete his twitter because of
his out of control tweets. He reactivated it though after being arrested and
sent to rehab. He issued an apology tweet but still, his reputation is damaged
and that’s because of the negative aspects of Twitter.
Twitter can be a great source of
news. Reputable pages like CNN Breaking News can report stories literally
seconds after they happen. This is one of the few forms of truly instant news
coverage. This allows people to react to these stories much faster than they
would if they heard about the story on TV. This can be harmful though if people
believe stories on un-reputable pages. The abuse of Twitter as a news source is
harmful to the overall quality of Twitter’s content. An example of this could
be fake profiles pretending to be a celebrity.
