Prezi

Critical Analysis of Prezi

Prezi is a new creative way to create and share presentations. With Prezi, you can make your presentations captivate the audience in a way never done before by using tools Prezi provides to make your presentation both professional and entertaining. The scope of Prezi’s skills goes far beyond that of Microsoft PowerPoint. Prezi was launched in April 2009 and it’s been helping both businessmen and entertainers get their point across over the medium of presentations. The word Prezi is actually the shortened version of the Hungarian translation for presentation.

Prezi is incredibly useful in the world of business. With Prezi, you can impress your employers, colleagues, or future customers with very advanced and impressive looking presentations. With Prezi, your idea will stand out against everyone else’s. I think the Prezi puts it best when they say, “If your idea is different from others, why is your presentation the same?” Also, you can collaborate with up to ten different people on your presentation world-wide. This makes working on group projects incredibly easy without having to make multiple copies of the same presentation or having to work on it all together in person. It also can make handing in projects a lot easier. With a simple click, your project can be on the computer screen of your boss. One downside of Prezi is that everyone might start using this and with that, the individuality and quality of Prezi presentations will decrease and it will become and obsolete product. The other downside is that making these presentations might be too difficult and time consuming and will hurt the chances of getting an idea across. Another downside is that if two people have ideas to improve their company and the first one has a better idea but a lackluster presentation while the second has a very bad idea but a very flashy and colorful Prezi presentation, the bad idea would be chosen because of the quality of the presentation rather than the quality of the idea and that’ll hurt the company.

Prezi can also be used to entertain the viewer in addition to its business uses. With Prezi, it becomes easy to exemplify and visualize an entertaining idea to an audience. Prezi is used multiple times on web-series such as TEDTalks, which is a series of videos meant to entertain and inform people on such topics ranging from questions about the universe to the discussion about the sixth sense. With Prezi assisting in the presentation of these incredible and entertaining ideas, people understand the topics a lot better. The only problem with using Prezi for entertainment is that its overuse will lead to deterioration of the quality of presentations. Also, not many people will look to presentations as a huge source of entertainment.
