LinkedIn

LinkedIn is a very useful tool in the professional world of business. LinkedIn gives you the business network that connects people together as “contacts”. LinkedIn is a necessary asset in business today but it can also be used in your social life also. This tool of productivity was created in 2004 by Reid Hoffman. The company is destined for success since it’s executives come from successful companies like Google, Microsoft, PayPal, and EA. Part of their revenue comes from member subscription and part also comes from advertising on the site, making it a stable business model. I believe LinkedIn will continue to be a successful company that helps other companies prosper.

The main function for this website is to promote businesses and create networks business owners can use to expand. With it you can discover professional opportunities, business deals, and new ventures. Not only does LinkedIn help your business, it is now a necessary tool in the world of business today. A person with an account on the website is a lot more likely to have more opportunities than one without and account. This can also attract future employers to hire you. Your LinkedIn profile is a better version of a resume because you can present info not on a resume like awards you’ve received, presentations, links to websites backing your professional career, affiliations with groups, and your interests in your career. Resumes would be obsolete if everyone used LinkedIn. It can find you jobs you weren’t applying to directly, making finding a job a lot easier. These are just a few of the countless business advantages LinkedIn gives you. LinkedIn can also be harmful to businesses though because it can become a monopoly. I don’t believe any other company provides this service and it can become unfair to other businesses that don’t have LinkedIn.

LinkedIn can also be used in a social way too. With LinkedIn, you can search for old classmates and business partners to get back in touch. It’s a very simple concept that gives LinkedIn another use rather than just for business. This concept only works if the person you’re trying to find has a LinkedIn account also, so this feature isn’t available unless LinkedIn has a big enough user base. I believe Facebook beats them in this aspect because it’s a lot easier to find someone from your past on Facebook since it has a huge user base.

In addition to those uses, LinkedIn is a great news source for the latest info on how to become better at your profession. I believe it can also provide you with news on what’s going on in the business world. It’s not known if LinkedIn can be considered a reputable news source though. It’s really easy to get news from anywhere else so this aspect of LinkedIn isn’t really that important or useful.

sorry i forgot to post it on the blog friday i posted it on the public drive
